Is your child the right age for this?
The Carolina Bumper Zone uses four 12V ride-on cars the manufacturer rates for 18 months to 5 years. Every car has a five-point harness and soft bumper edging around the shell. There are two speed settings plus spin steering, and the equipment label carries CE, ASTM and CPSIA marks.
The sweet spot at real parties is 2 to 5 year olds. Older siblings outgrow the seat quickly, so if your guest list runs past kindergarten, pair the arena with a bounce house so the big kids have somewhere to go.
The remote is the whole trick
Each car comes with a handheld remote that steers, changes speed and stops that car. That means a parent can override a driver who is heading for the wall, and a nervous toddler can ride with a grown-up doing the driving from outside the arena.
Give each remote to one adult and keep that adult on their car. Handing remotes around mid-session is where the chaos comes from.
Space, surface and power
The arena is a 15.7 foot octagon. Add the usual buffer and you want about 26 by 26 feet of clear, level ground. Grass is staked, concrete gets sandbags. The blower needs a standard household outlet on its own 15 amp circuit within 100 feet.
Cars charge before delivery. We verify battery level before we hand the arena over, and a full charge covers a standard party window.
A run-of-show that actually works
The base rental is 3 hours, with extra hours available. For a birthday with 15 to 20 little kids, this is the shape we recommend.
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0:00 | Guests arrive, free play, cars idle so kids can sit in them |
| 0:20 | First rotation starts, 5 minutes per group of four |
| 1:10 | Break for cake and cotton candy |
| 1:40 | Second rotation, siblings and repeat riders |
| 2:30 | Open ride until pickup |
| 3:00 | Crew returns for teardown |
How many kids can actually ride
Four cars on 5 minute turns is 48 rides an hour. In practice, kids want a second turn, so plan the guest list around 20 children for a 3 hour party if bumper cars are the only attraction. Past that, add a second attraction or an extra hour.
- Up to 12 kids: 3 hours is plenty
- 13 to 20 kids: 3 hours with a bounce house alongside
- More than 20: add hours or book the arena plus the obstacle course
What parents should have ready
Nothing complicated, but these five things make the setup fast and the party smoother.
- A clear 26 by 26 area with the dog gate closed
- An outlet we can reach, or tell us to bring the generator
- Socks or bare feet, no shoes in the arena
- One adult per remote for the first rotation
- Shade nearby, South Carolina afternoons are no joke
